The owner and the house

Twenty-four years on North Walnut

One licensed massage therapist, one old house, and a very long habit of looking after this town.

Meet Jennifer

Jennifer Durand trained at an accredited Tennessee massage therapy school, earned her state license, and opened The Nurture Nook 24 years ago. She wanted a place where a massage was not a transaction, and she has spent every year since keeping it that way.

She is still here most days. She still knows regulars by name and by shoulder. When something in your week has gone wrong, she is usually the one who notices before you say it.

The house

The Nurture Nook lives in a restored turn-of-the-century house a few blocks from the downtown square. Fireplaces, tall ceilings, the original woodwork, and a garden out the back that people come to sit in without booking anything at all.

It was never going to be a room with a table in it. The building does half the work of settling you down before anyone touches a shoulder, which is exactly why she chose it.

Everyone on the team is trained and licensed. There is a gift shoppe up front with skin care, aromatherapy and things worth giving people, and the spa goes out to offices too, for chair massage and corporate days.
